The National Beach Lifeguard Qualification is a nationally recognised award designed to establish competence for beach lifeguards who are responsible for the safety of those using open water locations for recreational purposes. |

The award will test: · Beach Lifeguarding theory relating to the primary role of a lifeguard in preventing incidents. · Open Water Rescue skills using a range of equipment to perform simulated rescues in the sea, including the torpedo buoy and rescue skis. · Physical fitness and timed swim · Life Support to Life Support 3 level · First Aid |

The aim of the qualification is to establish competence in open water lifeguard skills including water rescue and life support for personnel employed or as volunteers in the leisure industry as a beach lifeguard. The award will develop skills to supervise the activities and people on the beach, to identify hazards and take preventative measures, to endeavour to prevent accidents to provide water-safety and safe sunbathing advice to provide a point of contact for people on the beach. It will also develop the response to emergency situations.
