Portsmouth and Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards (PSVL) rely on its members to undertake the roles and duties for lifeguarding the designated patrolled area at Southsea and its surrounding area, and meeting its wider obligations.

A prospective full member should be able to swim and have a reasonable level of fitness, which will be tested by way of a timed swim. Although you do not have to have any lifeguarding skills, you will be able to develop these through Royal Live Saving Society approved training programmes. Training is held at Victoria Park Swimming Centre, for Pool Training, and at PSVL HQ on Southsea Seafront for Beach Training.

The new class of Friend has been introduced. In cases where you may not wish, or not capable of participating in Lifeguarding activities, but still would like to be associated with Portsmouth and Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards, you should consider becoming a Friend.
