The Life Support 3 award is designed to establish excellent levels of knowledge and ability to administer basic life support to casualties of all ages and in a variety of emergency situation.

Award Summary

The award will test:

· Simulated Expired Air Resuscitation

· Full CPR on a mannequin

· Action for vomiting

· Recovery position

· Initiative (initiative test two casualties)

· Theory, answer 10-12 questions

The Life Support 3 award establishes an excellent level of knowledge and ability to administer Basic Life Support under a wide range of conditions.

The award teaches the skills required to demonstrate simulated expired air ventilation on a live casualty and full cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a mannequin, two rescuer CPR, the action to be taken for a vomiting casualty, and the placing of the casualty in the recovery position.

Additionally, knowledge will be gained in order to answer 10-12 theory questions regarding the sequence of resuscitation, resuscitation techniques and their differences for adults, children and infants, and action for choking, bleeding, shock, hypothermia and drowning.
