The Life Support 2 award aims to establish proficient levels of knowledge to administer basic life support including the diagnosis and treatment of choking, bleeding, shock, drowning and hypothermia.

Award Summary

The award will test:

· Simulated Expired Air Resuscitation

· Full CPR on a mannequin

· Action for vomiting

· Recovery position

· Initiative (initiative test)

· Theory, answer 6-8 questions

The Life Support 2 award establishes a proficient level of knowledge and skill to administer Basic Life Support.

The award teaches the skills required to demonstrate simulated expired air ventilation on a live casualty and full cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a mannequin, two rescuer CPR, the action to be taken for a vomiting casualty, and the placing of the casualty in the recovery position.

Additionally, knowledge will be gained in order to answer 6-8 theory questions regarding the sequence of resuscitation, resuscitation techniques and their differences for adults, children and infants, and action for choking, bleeding, shock, hypothermia and drowning.
