GREAT NEWS!
The Portsmouth and Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards have a new beach patrol and rescue boat ‘Jobsite 1’.
At the end of last season, after many years of service and countless lives saved, the old beach patrol and rescue boat became financially irreparable during its routine winter maintenance. In the early part of 2007, Jobsite learnt of the lifeguard’s predicament and generously offered to buy the club a replacement boat.
The boat donated is a Red Zodiac Grand Mark III 4.7 metre open inflatable and will be taking the radio call-sign ‘Portsea Rescue 2’. It is capable of being beach launched from the lifeguard headquarters and can also be driven into shallow waters or tight spaces like the East Winner and South Parade Pier.
To welcome the boat to the Portsea Rescue fleet there will be a launch ceremony on Saturday 11th August 2007. This will take place at the lifeguard headquarters which can be found on Southsea Seafront between South Parade Pier and Southsea Castle. |
